Most businesses choosing between Claude's Team and Enterprise plans are trying to answer one question: what do I get for the significantly higher Enterprise price? This guide gives you the honest answer.
Claude.ai Teams at $30/user/month includes: access to Claude Sonnet and Opus models, Claude Projects with persistent context and file uploads, higher usage limits than the Pro plan, team-level Project sharing, and data privacy guarantees (your data is not used to train Claude's models).
For most knowledge work teams of 2-50 people doing writing, research, analysis, and communication work, Teams is sufficient. The Projects feature covers the persistent context and team collaboration use cases that matter most. The usage limits are high enough for daily active use without hitting caps.
Teams is also straightforward to deploy - no IT involvement required, no procurement process, no custom contracts. You add seats, pay monthly, and start. For a fast-moving organization, this simplicity has real value.
Enterprise pricing is not publicly listed (custom pricing). The additional features over Teams include:
These features matter to: companies with 100+ employees where IT governs software procurement, regulated industries with specific compliance requirements, companies that need AI usage audit trails for governance, and enterprises that need SLAs for production-critical AI workflows.
They do not matter to most SMBs. If your IT policy does not require SAML SSO, if you are not in a regulated industry, if your AI use is not production-critical, Teams is the right choice.
Start with Teams. If you later hit a wall - your IT department requires SAML, your compliance team needs audit logs, you are processing PHI and need a BAA, or your usage volume hits Teams limits - upgrade to Enterprise. The migration is straightforward.
Do not buy Enterprise speculatively. The features it adds are valuable in specific contexts and irrelevant in others. Overpaying for governance features your organization doesn't need doesn't make your AI deployment better.
The exception: if you are deploying Claude in a regulated industry (healthcare, finance, legal) where compliance is a day-one requirement, engage with Anthropic's enterprise sales team first to understand what compliance features you need and whether Enterprise covers them.
