AI CMO pricing 2026: what you'll actually pay.

AI CMO pricing pages are misleading. They show software subscription costs and ignore the setup time, the integration work, the human-time to manage outputs, and the upgrade pressure as usage grows. This is the all-in cost view, including the parts vendors don't put on their pricing pages.

The short version

Realistic all-in 2026 budget for an AI CMO setup, including software, setup, and ongoing human-time: $300-$2,500/month for a dedicated product like Okara; $150-$1,200/month for a flexible platform like Lindy; $100-$500/month for a well-built DIY Claude setup (plus the one-time build cost). Compare to fractional CMO at $8K-$25K/month and full-time CMO at $25K-$45K/month all-in.

The pricing model patterns

Three pricing models dominate the AI CMO category:

1. Per-seat + usage-based. Common for Okara and similar polished products. Base subscription per workspace, then meter on LLM tokens consumed.
2. Tiered usage caps. Common for Lindy and platform-style products. Buy a tier with X agent-runs/month; overage charged at metered rate.
3. BYO-LLM (DIY). Pay the LLM provider directly (Claude, OpenAI) plus any orchestration tools (n8n, Make.com).

The 'cheap entry tier' is usually well below what production usage requires. Plan for tier 2-3 of whatever the vendor offers.

Dedicated AI CMO products (Okara and similar)

Software: ~$500-$2,000/month for a real production tier.
Setup: $0-$5K for onboarding services, depending on tier.
Integrations: Sometimes included; sometimes $500-$2K extra per non-standard integration.
Human-time: 3-8 hours/week ($300-$1,000/month at internal cost) to configure, monitor, and iterate.
All-in monthly: $800-$3,500.
Year-1 all-in: $10K-$45K including setup.

Flexible agent platforms (Lindy and similar)

Software: $100-$1,000/month depending on usage tier.
Setup: $0 self-serve, $500-$3K if you bring in an outside consultant.
Integrations: Mostly via Zapier — incremental Zapier cost ~$30-$200/month depending on volume.
Human-time: 5-10 hours/week to configure ($500-$1,200/month internal cost).
All-in monthly: $700-$2,500.
Year-1 all-in: $8K-$30K.

DIY Claude-based AI CMO

Software: Claude Pro at $20/month, or Claude Team at $30/seat/month, or Claude API at usage rates (typically $50-$200/month at production usage).
Orchestration: n8n self-hosted free; n8n cloud $20-$50/month; Make.com $10-$30/month.
Setup: One-time build cost. 20-80 hours of someone's time. At internal $100/hour, that's $2K-$8K equivalent.
Human-time ongoing: 4-8 hours/week to maintain ($400-$1,000/month internal cost).
All-in monthly steady state: $500-$1,300.
Year-1 all-in (including build): $8K-$20K.

Hidden costs nobody talks about

Four costs most pricing analyses miss:

1. Quality control time. Every AI output needs human review for the first 90 days minimum. Budget 2-4 hours/week.
2. Strategy maintenance. The AI executes whatever strategy you give it. If your strategy needs to evolve and no one updates the AI's context, output drifts. 1-2 hours/month minimum.
3. Re-evaluation pressure. The category is moving fast. Budget time every 6 months to re-evaluate whether you're still on the right platform.
4. The fractional or full-time CMO who actually owns marketing. If you're trying to replace this role with AI, you'll need to add it back within 12 months. Budget for it.

How AI CMO cost compares to alternatives

vs. hiring a marketing coordinator: $60K-$90K all-in. AI CMO is cheaper at the same output and works 24/7.

vs. hiring a marketing agency: $120K-$480K/year. AI CMO is dramatically cheaper for execution work; agencies still win on creative and complex campaigns.

vs. fractional CMO: $96K-$300K/year. Different layer of the stack — pair, don't replace.

vs. full-time CMO: $300K-$500K/year all-in. Same as fractional comparison — different layer.

Realistic Year-1 budget by company stage

Pre-$1M ARR: DIY Claude setup. ~$2K-$5K Year-1 all-in.
$1M-$5M ARR: DIY Claude OR Lindy. ~$5K-$15K Year-1 all-in. Add fractional CMO at 1 day/week ($8K/month).
$5M-$30M ARR: Okara or Lindy at production tier. ~$15K-$35K Year-1 all-in. Pair with fractional CMO ($15K/month).
$30M+ ARR: Okara at enterprise tier or sophisticated DIY. ~$30K-$60K Year-1 all-in. Pair with full-time CMO.
