Integration guide

Claude + HubSpot integration.

HubSpot has its own AI features baked in, but they cover maybe 30% of what a serious GTM team needs Claude for. Here's how to use Claude alongside HubSpot effectively — from simple manual workflows to custom integrations, plus when to stick with HubSpot AI and when to leave the platform for Claude.

The integration paths

Four ways to get Claude working with HubSpot data

1. Manual copy-paste. Rep pulls contact/company/deal info from HubSpot into Claude. Zero setup. Adequate for small teams. Friction adds up at scale.

2. HubSpot reports → Claude Project knowledge base. Weekly contact, deal, or workflow exports loaded into a dedicated Claude Project. Sales managers query the Project for analysis. Great for pipeline reviews.

3. HubSpot Workflows + webhook + Claude API. Trigger Claude on HubSpot events (new contact, deal stage change, form submission). Custom code (Zapier or custom function) calls Claude, returns content back to HubSpot. Practical 2-day build.

4. Custom HubSpot integration via private app. Full read/write integration. Real engineering project but maximum control. Worth it for HubSpot-centric companies with specific workflow needs.

Where Claude beats HubSpot AI

Workflows where the external tool wins

Long-form content (blogs, emails over 200 words). Claude's output quality is significantly higher than HubSpot AI for sustained writing. Draft in Claude, paste into HubSpot for delivery.

Account research and brief generation. HubSpot AI doesn't do real research. Claude (especially paired with Perplexity for sources) does.

Sustained workflows across multiple sessions. HubSpot's in-platform AI is per-session. Claude Projects persist context across hundreds of sessions — much better for repeated workflows.

Coaching and analysis at the manager level. Pipeline reviews, deal coaching, forecasting commentary — HubSpot's AI is fine but Claude with a proper Project produces deeper analysis.

Where HubSpot AI is the right tool

Workflows where in-platform AI wins

Email send-time optimization and subject-line testing. HubSpot has the data; Claude doesn't.

Lead scoring and prediction. HubSpot's AI runs on your actual contact behavior. External Claude doesn't see this data.

In-context email writing for individual sends. When a rep is in HubSpot writing a one-off email, opening Claude in another tab adds friction that often isn't worth the quality bump.

Quick summaries of contact activity or deal notes. HubSpot's summarizer is good enough for these glance-level tasks.

Practical recommendation

The pattern most B2B HubSpot teams should adopt

For a 5–25 person team on HubSpot: (1) use HubSpot's native AI for in-platform quick tasks (summaries, subject lines, individual email assists). (2) use Claude Team for everything sustained: long-form content, account briefs, pipeline analysis, coaching, board prep. (3) wire one or two high-frequency Claude→HubSpot automations via Zapier (e.g., new contact form submission triggers Claude to draft a personalized first-touch email back into HubSpot).

This pattern captures 90% of the value without significant engineering investment.
